GIBNEY DANCE CENTER

Gibney Dance Center (GDC) is an integrated complex of seven spacious studios located in the historic 890 Broadway Building. Featuring broad expanses of pillar free space, 13 foot ceilings and streams of natural light and air, GDC offers a friendly, focused working environment in a building known for its history of quality, determination and professionalism. The Center aims to create a focused and lively work environment that supports both process and product while encouraging artists to delve into authentic exploration in all stages of creative development.

With the dramatic loss of rehearsal spaces over the past decade, Gibney Dance is deeply aware of the importance of maintaining this vital center at 890 Broadway. We are committed to serving the dance community by offering affordable rehearsal space and much-needed support to choreographers.

Gibney Dance Center is also proud to host professional and specialty classes with some of the best teachers in the city. We hand select teachers for our ongoing roster, which emphasizes professional level ballet classes as well as several outstanding “specialty” offerings. We strive to create an environment that is focused and friendly.

A beautiful, spacious studio overlooking Broadway that is perfect for dance company rehearsals and workshops.
Large - 50’ x 34’

STUDIO 2
A charming, window-lined space for nonprofit and commercial performing arts rehearsals.
Medium - 32’ x 24’

STUDIO 3
A large, versatile space for dance or theater rehearsals and long-term residencies.
Large - 36’ x 36’ with optional 10’ x 7’ production office

STUDIO 4
An extra-large, versatile space that was specifically designed for large-scale and commercial performing arts rehearsals and multi-week residencies. Ample storage and extended hours included.
Extra Large - 70’ x 45’ plus 17’ x 7’6” storage space

STUDIO 5-2
A beautiful, fully equipped space that offers a daily roster of professional and specialty classes, as well as space for private rehearsals and special events.
Large - 54’ x 34’ with waiting area and private restroom

STUDIO 6
A quiet, private space for small groups or individual exploration.
Small - 20’ x 36’

STUDIO 7
A small, well lit workspace that can be used flexibly as a solo rehearsal studio, production office or meeting room.
Small - 15’ x ’15’

STUDIO 8
A mid-sized studio with marley floor that can easily be compartmentalized for various uses simultaneously.
Medium - 1100 sq. ft. with a private bathroom.

Gibney Dance Center is handicap accessible via two elevators that take visitors to the Fifth Floor. All of GDC's public programs are accessible to people with disabilities.
